A little about me

Hi, I’m Natalie, the clever crow behind Clever Crow. I’m a freelance copy editor and proofreader based on the East Kent coast. I grew up with a love of literature and was always fascinated, not just with stories, but the delivery of them. After gaining a degree in English Literature and following the romantic notion of working in several bookstores, I worked in schools teaching children to read and write. I then followed my dream of working in the publishing industry by training hard for my level 4 diploma in proofreading and editing, gaining a distinction. After working for several small local and indie publishing houses, I was asked by a friend to edit her children’s book and my love for book editing grew from there. I decided to start Clever Crow when I realised that I could combine my passion for editing with the desire to work from home.

I am particularly passionate about supporting new authors, self-published writers, and small businesses in delivering irresistible content. I have a keen eye for those details that make a sparkling story.

Outside of editing, I am a self-confessed homebody – I love nothing more than being cosy with a cup of something hot, and a cat (or two or three) purring next to me. During the warmer months, I love to be out in nature, going on long walks, camping, and mountain climbing… but I always love to come back home.
