Author Spotlight with Georgia Spearing
Introducing author Georgia Spearing who, after honing her skills as a ghostwriter, is releasing her debut novel on the 15th October 2024. Her fantasy romance novel ‘Soul’ is a compelling story that follows a woman’s journey through the realms of life and death. Read on to learn more about this writer’s perseverance to follow her dreams of writing while living with fibromyalgia and raising her daughter with her supportive husband.
You're a writer and a mother: what are your top tips for balancing writing and parenthood?
“Honestly, I don’t have any tips. I work while she sleeps, and when she's awake, I make it my mission to fill her world with laughter and smiles, because those are the moments that matter most.”
What is the best piece of advice you've been given about writing?
“I've always been told to never give up and to keep going. I've learned that if something comes easy, it's not worth settling for. But when things get hard, that's when you push through, keep writing, and keep trying—because there's something within you driving you toward greatness.”
Let's talk about your debut, 'Soul': what inspired the idea for the book?
“Soul is a reflection of my own life, capturing the challenges, heartbreak, and moments of love and loss that have shaped me, including my struggle with fibromyalgia. It's about facing our fears and learning to cherish the little moments along the way. I hope many can see themselves in this journey.”
You've said that 'Soul' will be part of a trilogy: can you share a tiny bit about how the story will develop without giving too much away?
“Yes, Soul is just the beginning of a three-part series. The next book, Souls, will be from Luke’s perspective, and I’m excited to dive into his journey. The final book, Afterlife, will be a surprise!”
Some people say writing is therapeutic: did you learn anything about yourself while writing 'Soul'?
“I completely agree that writing can be therapeutic. Since writing Soul, I’ve realized how much of my past I’ve been able to let go of—things I once struggled to move on from. Life really is too short, as cliché as it sounds, and every moment, whether good or bad, should be embraced. The fights, the laughs, the kisses, the hugs, the last goodbyes, and the first hellos—each moment happens for a reason, and it’s up to us to fully live and appreciate them.”
Here's one for fun: what is your favourite writing snack?
“I'd have to say chocolate, all day, every day! As a proud chocoholic, it's my go-to snack for both writing and reading.”
“But when things get hard, that's when you push through, keep writing, and keep trying—because there's something within you driving you toward greatness.”
